b'S U P P O R T I N Gemotional wellbeingIn recent years, society increasingly has recognized the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing. In response, we have launcheda major initiative to create a culture that fosters emotional wellbeingfor all who live and work at Presbyterian Homes. What started asefforts to help residents cope during the precarious times of the COVID pandemic has blossomed into a formal Emotional Wellbeing Workplace program that benefits staff and residents alike.For employees, emotional wellness initiatives are integrated withemployee wellness activities and benefits. We have expanded ourEmployee Assistance Plan to ensure that short-term mental healthsupport, information and referral, and other resources are available.We are also empowering employees to bolster residents emotionalwellbeing. We created a Lunch-and-Learn training series to providestaff with information, education, and strategies to enhanceemotional wellbeing. Employees who complete the training receivean Emotional Wellbeing Ally certificate reflecting their ability andcommitment to promote the emotional wellbeing of themselves,their colleagues, and our residents.And, recognizing the power of involving our residents, we have engaged Resident Champions who are selected because of their background, skill set, and interest in this effort. They share feedback, insights, experiences, and suggestions to enhance the emotional wellbeing of residents.They strive to model self-care and self-compassion, and they fosterengagement by other residents in community activities.The Emotional Wellbeing Project was perfectly timed as we emerged from the pandemic.
